A hooded figure stood at the edge of a stream. They faced the running water as it coursed and carved its way through the cursed woods and land of Forelock. They watched from a shadow of a large tree; the shadows on the ground seemed to be drawn to the individual, swirled and danced to them and seemed to gather at the beings feet. The whole air about this person seemed thick with shadow and darkness... anyone would be able to recognize them from this feature.
The figure raised a cloaked arm, the sleeve fell back; a pale arm was exposed and pushed the hood down of the cloak. The young woman stared at the icy water. The look upon her face suggested she was waiting for something... and her eyes never left the water. Her breathing slowly escaped her nose; her chest rising and falling gently. After a few moments, a large, hand-crafted wooden box floated down the river. She reached out with her arm, the shadows stretching and forming with her. Her thin, pale fingers wrapped around the box and pulled it aside. From within the cloak, she pulled out a piece of metal, held it at the end and flung it open as a fan. What looked to be expertly, she opened the wooden box that was lined beautifully with a deep purple velvet. Her fingers ignored the velvet and went straight for the weapon. She closed the box back up with one hand and the other help the duo-bladed staff. easily, she put it onto her back and tied it around herself with the red-leather straps. Once more, she glanced around the area, then let the box float downstream once more. Her dark-purple eyes observed one last time and her pale fingers pulled the hood back up. Once more, she began a brisk walk into the forest. As she walked, the shadows briefly dragged with her, stretched out as she walked, then returned to normal; as though she were walking through water.

From a far a man stood in front of her. he was a tall figure standing at roughly about 6'5", no taller perhaps shorter. He was an attractive man, perhaps mid twenties maybe a little older. His face carried a serious dedicated look, as his intense dark eyes peered deeply, and darkly onto the hooded woman as though attempting to disrobe her for the time being, not sexually of course only attempting to figure out whom was the cloaked figure. The man neared her, as he kept his hand gently on the hilt of his sword. His long hair blew to the left, due to the gentle breeze that brushed through this horrid looking forest, and soon a butter smooth voice parted his light pink lips and he began to speak:
"Princess, you know your father doesn't desire you to leave the castle walls, did you not remember?"
His dark armor sparkled under the small god ray that poked its way through the trees, and reflected against the kingdoms emblem which was a dragon, a gold dragon. He continued forward as he continued to speak, only getting closer as he did so.
"You know these woods are dangerous, the dead resides within the dirt and can strike at any moment, along with beasts that can rip off the very meat off your bones"

The Princess looked at him with hard eyes and lightly shook her head. Ignoring his suggestions, she kept walking on. "The dead in these woods fear what I can, and have, done to them, Sir Edwin." Her cool voice gently snapped. Her eyes looked around him once more. "How did you manage to find me this time? It really is getting really old, really fast. I made sure no one knew I left- no servant saw me, I left no trace." She walked up to him, circled around him and sighed heavily. Her fingers gently played with the metallic blades of the folded fan. Gently, she began to suck on her teeth, then popped her lips. "Have you been watching me, more than what my father has asked?" She asked, her voice had a touch of amusement to it; as though she were mocking him and how he knew she was there. She closed her eyes, stopped in front of him and reopened her eyes. She stared at the ground and watched the shadows migrate toward her. A small smirk played her lips as she watched his shadow bend around to mingle with hers. Slowly, she raised her head to look at him and gently bit her lip with her fang. Slowly, her lip rolled out from under the fang and she looked him in the eyes. "Why are you so intent on making sure I'm stuck in that castle?"

"Because its your father's wishes Princess, and though you've stated you've snuck out uncaught, I do hate to inform you that you always return to the same place every time, these forests always intrigued you. Even as a child, its not hard to track you down, and besides princess, I've been loyal to your side sense you were only 5, or have you forgotten this already my dear"
His smile was charming, though he smiled little, he always managed to place one when the young princess was around. He turned to look at her as he placed a hand on the top of her head, ruffling it a little as he did so. His eyes guided down to her. He stood far much taller than she was, a huge height difference. His smile vanished as he turned to look at the castle and began to speak yet again.
"Its time for us to return to the kingdom, at least before you're father finds out that you're now missing...that will be 20 lashings tonight, I'd like to avoid that."

Ariesti turned and looked back at the castle. "I hate going there..." She mumbled under her breath. She walked around and stood behind him. She leaned forward, just enough to let her cloak-covered skin rest against his armor. "I don't want to go back..." She groaned and sighed heavily. The aura around her seemed to relax a bit more, but a more grieved mood began to overwhelm her. "Is... your stomach better?" She asked, then suddenly pushed off his back. A few days ago, her father was feeling especially abusive that day and had gotten him with a glass-shard embedded whip, and was forced to lay on salt after the wounds were inflected... Of course, the king had done worse, and always seemed to save those punishments for her Edwin. At that thought, her eyes flew open and she backed up more; the shadows moving as if they were upset that they had been disturbed.

Edwin looked at his stomach as she had mentioned his injury, he had practically forgotten about it, his hand grazed it gently as he shrugged the thought off. It stung he wouldn't lie about that, but besides the small, barely noticeable stinging. The pain was barely even a bother, he had far more worse injuries, this was nothing to him. He shook his head as he placed his armored hand to his side. He began to head to the kingdom, aware that the princess would follow him, and he wouldn't find no form of hesitation with her. He knew she would, but he felt her deprivation, she desire the outside world, even if the phantom forest wasn't much. He knew she was curious, it probably didn't help with the fact he told all his tales to her as a child. Especially, the one how he wrestled 6 sea serpents with no more than just a butter knife, surely that one was a little over exagerated, but he got her all the time. He smirked as he turned to look at her.
"One day, princess we will sail the 12 seas, and adventure the continents, and one day you're father will approve of our adventures, despite his hard shell my lady, it is all done out of love. He wants the best from you, and he wants you to know that its all for your benefit. The castle isn't half bad, and besides, you're a lucky child, most young lass's would dream to be in your shoes"

"That, my good knight, is wrong. I'm the... odd-one. I don't like the riches, I don't like the servants doing things for me..." She sighed heavily and faithfully followed after him. "They dream about being my sisters... I mean... look at me!" She shouted and stopped walking. For a brief moment, it seemed even the shadows froze and backed down from her. She looked down at the ground, her shoulders slumped. "Look at me Edwin... I'm so selfish..." She murmured, sorrow thick on her voice. The shadows around her seemed to form a small veil, as though trying to hug and comfort her. "No matter what, I always run from the castle... despite knowing what my father does to you... I'm so selfish..." She let her head hang more. "And the castle IS that bad... look at what my father does to you! He just needs to leave me alone for a while and let me be me. I'm not going to put on a fake smile, as usual, when a stupid prince for who knows where comes here... I'll scare them off with ma--" She paused, and quickly changed her reply, "my shadow people. That tends to freak everyone out." She smirked and looked at him. "I think... I shall complain to my father when I get home."

He stopped in his footing as he looked at the princess and smiled as he looked at her, he shook his head and headed towards her, as he placed both hands onto her shoulders, and looked deeply into her eyes, he spoke:
"Complain all you want, you know your father will say no, it will be no until you settle in with a nice man from some continent, and your father finally gives you the thrown, and you don't need to keep your black magic a secret princess, your secret is hard to hide with me, now let us hurry, and besides..."
He nudge her playfully, and hinted her to continue with a nudge of his head, and continued on his walk...

Ariesti stared at him, she wanted to shout, 'and besides what?', but sighed heavily and followed his lead. "I do need to keep it a secret... do you know what my father would do if he were to find out?" She rhetorically asked him, then shook her head. "I guess it's just hard to not notice the shadows, right?" She giggled softly and held her arm out to the side to confirm her point: the shadows on the ground followed her arm's shadow, the extra seemed to lick at her arms as though they were fire licking a log. She shook her head once more and followed after Edwin. "Well... besides what?" She finally asked and looked a little impatient.

"Nothing in particular my dear"
He replied as his footsteps flattened the ground surrounding him. He knew she felt alone, even though he was around she felt distant from the kingdom and only really had him around her the entire time. He rested his loose arm on to the hilt of his blade and began to speak yet another time, still avoiding the 'besides' word he had said earlier:
"Keep in mind, your not the only one practicing the forbidden arts. Your older sister Sully as well, if I'm correct her specialty was blood magic am I right? and she's the ambassador of this kingdom."

Ariesti moved quickly around Edwin and stood in front of him. She lightly rest the palm of her hand against his torso armor and looked up into his eyes. For the briefest moment, her heart seemed to flutter when she pressed her hand against his body. She took in a deep breath, "As Princess and Heir to the Throne of Forelock... I wish to know what you had in mind, what you meant by 'besides'." She stated in a slightly demanding tone. "And until you tell me, we are not moving." She added on, then looked straight into his eyes.

"As you wish M'Lady"
The Knight laid her hand and moved the hand slowly away as he brought the princess closer, pressing her against his chest and looked up into the air raising is other hand as he prepared himself to tell her what he meant by this besides, and prepared to tell her with a story format. He looked up high as he placed his hand around her shoulder, and allowed her to wrap hers around his waist.
"Besides. sometime in the near future, you and me will one day venture off to different territories. You'll be queen and you'll have the power to decide whatever you want"

Her heart was pounding. Hard. By the time he had pulled her against his chest, she swore there might've been a faint blush. Quickly recovering, her eyes turned hard and looked up at him, as though yelling at him for even daring to do that. "I don't believe that's all... that's something you wouldn't leave out and keep me in suspense for." She huffed and lightly pushed off him. "I don't want to be queen... I wish my father would just... make it law that he can pick whomever to be heir.." She growled and turned around. She looked ahead, towards the direction they had to go to get back to the castle. "I just want to be free from that damned place."

"Well you should have been born first my dear"
He shuffled her hair, messing it up a little as he snickered and continued off, there was more he had left out but he wasn't about to let his princess know. There was a mission on its way, granted by the king himself. He had is suspicion, the king that is. The king knew something was up with the princess, her constant escaping of the kingdom walls as proven little to no improvement in the kings opinion on her. He looked at her and smiled. He knew that tonight was possibly is last night in the kingdom with the princess. He looked at her and sighed.
"...You want to explore the kingdom before going inside the castle, it'll be just between us"

Ariesti shook her head. "No... I don't want anything else coming to you for my recklessness." She stated heavily. With a quick shake of her head, her hair fell back into its regular position. She pulled her hood up once more and began to walk again. Ari reached into her cloak once more and pulled her fan out. Easily, she whipped it open, snapped it shut, whipped it open, snapped it shut. She repeated it over and over as they continued on. With every step, her stomach seemed to churn- how she hated to go back. "I don't see why my father won't let me explore..."
